Begin now to make plans  to attend the 2008 VSBA Eastern Regional Forum on April 21, 2008 which will be held at the Middlesex  Elementary School, Saluda, Virginia.  This forum is especially designed to give school board members and superintendents the  opportunity to meet with their colleagues, from across the region, for an evening of  fellowship and discussion.

STUDENT ART SHOW

The student art show is now a tradition at the regional forums.  Each school       division has been asked to enter three pieces of student art—elementary, middle, and high schools.  The student art will be judged at the forum with ribbons for the winners and certificates awarded to all who enter.  Winning student art will be framed and rotated for display in the offices of the Secretary of Education,  Department of Education and the VSBA for one year before being returned to the school division for return to the student.

 

Earn Academy Points

 

The VSBA Eastern Regional Forum is part of the VSBA School Board Academy and those attending will receive three Academy points.  Any school board member who attends the Regional      Forum will be in automatic compliance with Standard 5D of the Standards of Quality, which requires local school board members to participate in school board training sessions.

Directions to the Forum

From Kilmarnock:  Travel Rt. 3 across the Norris Bridge to Middlesex County.  Continue on Rt. 3 until you come to a stoplight.  Make a right onto Rt. 33 West.  Travel about 1 mile pass St. Clare Walker Middle School (left) make a left turn onto Rt. 629—Philpot Rd.  The school is 1/2 mile on the right.

 

From Gloucester:  Take Rt. 17 north to Middlesex County pass the Hardees's to the stop light.  Make a right on Rt. 33 E.  And travel about  5 miles; make a right turn 1 mile pass the Shell Station onto Rt. 629-Philpot Rd.

 

From Essex:  Take Rt. 17S to Middlesex County make a left turn Business Rt. 17 go to the stoplight; keep straight  on Rt. 33 E. travel about  5 miles; make a right turn 1 mile pass the Shell Station onto Rt. 629-Philpot Rd.

 

From Mathews:  Take Rt. 3 S across the Piankatant River.  In Hartfield take a left onto Rt. 33 West; travel about 4 miles (pass St. Clare Walker Middle School on the left).  Make a left turn onto Rt. 629-Philpot Rd.  The school is about 1/2 mile on the right.
