Van Pelt’s Boys to Men

Categories: Bristol City | 2017

‘Van Pelt Elementary identified a group of boys in need of positive male role models. The male staff of our school identified 5th grade students who could benefit from a positive male relationship. This group of staff ate lunch with the students on a periodic basis, has plans to take students out to eat, attend a sporting event together, and discuss and model positive family relationships. The central idea was for 5th grade boys to develop a relationship with an adult as well as give students a model for how adults communicate with one another. This group wanted to model healthy, constructive, positive relationships between adult males. This serves as an example for students as they mature into young adults. The goal of Boys to Men is to impact male students and model a positive relationship which may in turn impact a future family.’
