National Archery in Schools Program

Categories: Giles County | 2017

In September 2016, Narrows Elementary Middle School embarked on new program to foster self-confidence, discipline, self-esteem, sportsmanship, and student involvement.  Partnering with Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, in connection with the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP), several faculty members became certified archery instructors.  To date, 160 students have been trained and participated in a designed archery curriculum during physical education.  Additionally, an archery team was developed to compete, both regionally and statewide.  Students, parents, and the community have celebrated the implementation of the program.  Most importantly, it has given our students an opportunity to represent their school and community and have fun doing it.
