A River Runs Through Us

Categories: Richmond County, Workforce Readiness and Career & Technical Education | 2016

Description:

A River Runs Through Us is a systemic Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience in which all sixth grade students investigate "How do our daily actions impact the health of the Rappahannock River?" The students conduct water quality testing, receive handson, inquiry-based lessons, organize and conduct a community cleanup, explore a state park and reflect on their experiences through letters to the Editor, Board of Supervisors and School Board. Partners from Three Rivers Environmental Educators work together to strengthen the students' sense of place, watersheds and human impacts and their improvements in achievement showcase the success of integrating environmental education.
