Categories: Virginia Beach City, Workforce Readiness and Career & Technical Education | 2016

VBCPS STIHL TCC Apprenticeship Program- Virginia Beach City Public Schools is proud to announce the pre-apprentice program partnership with manufacturing partner STIHL, Inc. and TCC. This program encourages students enrolled in the VBCPS Advanced Technology Center (ATC) Engineering Technology two year program to be dual enrolled at TCC and take courses in the Mechatronics program that the STIHL apprentices are required to complete. Students in their junior or senior year participate in a 9 week, on-site preapprentice experience two days a week at the plant. Students gain understandings of modern manufacturing processes and procedures. Certification opportunities include certified FANUC operator, Certified Solidworks Associate, MS1 and MT1. STIHL has offered advanced status to an Engineerin Technology student applying to their apprentice program if they meet all the entrance requirements. One big element of interest from STIHL is that ATC students are able to come work at STIHL with collaborative robot experience.
