Kaine, Warner try again to use historic tax credits for schools

Richmond City Council invests in education in $3 billion yearly budget

Richmond City Council has officially finalized the 2024 Fiscal Year Richmond Government Budget which will take effect on July 1, 2023 and will last through June 30, 2024. The latest budget totals to just over $3 billion, which comes from state, local and federal funding, including fees and taxes.

Va. Board of Education expedites extension of 15,500 teacher licenses

The Virginia State Board of Education on Thursday unanimously approved an emergency regulation to let the state extend 15,500 expiring but renewable teacher licenses for a year, until June 30, 2024. The move, which the board approved unanimously in a 12-minute meeting, extends renewable teacher licenses that were to expire on June 30.

Computer science curriculum set to change in Virginia schools by 2026

BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ) - The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is starting the revision process for its K-12 computer science curriculum. 2023 Conference on Education, July 13, 2023, Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa at Short Pump

We will kick off the 38th annual VSBA Conference on Education with the 2023 Virginia Teacher of the Year, Ms. Fabiana Parker from Spotsylvania County Public Schools. Following her presentation VACORP will help present the 2023 Excellence in Workforce Readiness Awards. Next, join other school division leaders from across the state and choose from a variety of mini-workshops which highlight successful practices in Virginia’s school divisions. Conference attendees will leave with many great insights and practical ideas. After the roundtable presentations, attendees will break into optional regional meetings to discuss pertinent issues and topics. During lunch, the annual VSBA Food for Thought 2023 winners will be announced. Attendees will also hear from the recipient of the 2023 Student Essay Scholarship.
