A new state-run grant for school construction looks set to get rolling in early 2023. Localities will be able to apply for state money to help build, renovate, or update school buildings. The General Assembly has allocated about half a billion dollars for the new competitive grants.

Henrico Police reported two separate gun-related situations at Highland Springs High School on Tuesday. One teenage student was detained and officials recovered a gun from him.

Waynesboro Schools Superintendent Jeff Cassell says the school system is not bursting at the seams with capacity issues, and he does not foresee that happening in the next few years.
