Before, During, and After – Crisis and Emergency Response Consideration for Schools
During any emergency, it is important to draw from all available resources and from the perspective of activating the plan – versus creating the plan with an emergency in progress. Additionally, the “it can’t happen here” mindset is both incorrect and potentially debilitating from a loss prevention and emergency preparedness standpoint. How can schools effectively change the culture without scaring teachers and staff into submission? Planning for crises and emergencies with a before, during, and after mindset can ensure that Virginia schools are as safe as possible for students, staff, and visitors. This practical presentation will equip attendees with various ways to heighten safety awareness and better understand the necessary components of comprehensive crisis planning.
