ABOUT
The purpose of the VSBA Task Forces is to strategically enhance the work of the VSBA and its member boards. Focused on networking, building effective relationships, and collaboration to focus on best practices, task forces strengthen the voice of school board members.
Students and Schools in Challenging Environments
The VSBA Task Force on Students and Schools in Challenging Environments was created to make recommendations to the Virginia Board of Education and the Virginia Department of Education on ways to help challenged schools in Virginia.
Task Force on Collective Bargaining
This task force was charged with studying and submitting recommendations to the Board of Directors for best practices and guidance for school boards when deciding to enter into collective bargaining agreements.
Task Force on School Infrastructure Needs
The Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) Board of Directors voted to establish a task force focused on assisting school boards in advocating for best practices and outcomes for improving the infrastructure of school divisions in the Commonwealth.
Task Force on Artificial Intelligence
The VSBA Task Force on Artificial Intelligence (AI) was created by the Board of Directors at its August 14, 2025, meeting. As AI continues to evolve and influence educational environments, it is critical for VSBA to proactively assess its implications, opportunities, and challenges for teaching, learning, operations, and security. Establishing a taskforce allows for informed planning, policy development, and recommendations that align with best practices and ethical standards.
