Richmond County School Board Selected as VSBA School Board of the Year
Charlottesville, VA – This afternoon, during the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) Annual Convention, the Richmond County School Board was announced as the VSBA School Board of the Year. This title is given to one outstanding school board each year to recognize their efforts and accomplishments. The judges selected Richmond County School Board, whose strong application reflected their collaborative and professional leadership, focusing on equitable and relevant learning experiences for all students, nurturance of positive stakeholder relationships, and use of transparent and clear communication processes and procedures. This year’s award was graciously sponsored by Southland Industries.
“It is an incredible honor for Richmond County to be named the 2025 VSBA School Board of the Year,” said Vivian Wood, Chair of the Richmond County School Board. “This recognition reflects the dedication of our entire board, our division leadership, our teachers, and our community who work together every day to ensure the success of every student. We are so proud of the innovative programs and partnerships that have shaped our schools, and this award affirms the positive impact of that collective commitment. It truly means the world to us to be recognized in this way.”
The Board was recognized during the VSBA Annual Convention awards luncheon and at the opening general session. The VSBA Annual Convention is attended by school board members, superintendents, division administrators, and education professionals from across the Commonwealth.
