Dr. Carol Medawar represents the Courtland District on the Spotsylvania County School Board. She is a lifelong educator with nearly three decades of experience in Virginia schools. She holds a PhD in Instructional Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University, where her research focused on the landscape of STEM curriculum across Virginia’s 132 school divisions. Dr. Medawar’s expertise spans K-12, special education, mathematics, STEM, and instructional coaching. She is committed to stabilizing school governance and ensuring that every student has access to highquality, transformative learning opportunities. Prior to her board service, Dr. Medawar also served as the Director of School Success for Project Lead The Way, where she managed accounts across the Mid-Atlantic to expand STEM access. A former Elementary Math Specialist and Instructional Technology expert, she is a passionate advocate for student achievement, school safety, and evidence-based policy. She currently serves students in Alexandria City Public Schools as an Instructional Math Coach.
