Lucy B. Carson is a retired teacher, assistant principal, and principal of Prince Edward County Middle School in Farmville, Virginia.  She presently works part time as the Program Coordinator of the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia.  Mrs. Carson completed one four year term as school board member, in the group of first time elected school board members in Prince Edward County.  She was elected chairperson of the Prince Edward County School Board in January of 2021. In November of 2021, Mrs. Carson was re-elected to the Prince Edward County School Board. Now she has been elected as Vice-chair of the Southern Region. 

Mrs. Carson is presently chair of the Prince Edward County Public Schools in Farmville, Virginia.

Mrs. Carson is from Martinsville Virginia, a graduate of Martinsville High School.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from North Carolina Central University in Durham North Carolina.  Her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Virginia, and her endorsement in Educational Leadership from Longwood University.

Mrs. Carson is married to Donald Carson, who is also retired Special Education teacher.  The Carson’s  have one son and they reside in Farmville.
