A product of Prince William County Public Schools throughout her entire educational journey, Alyssa credits the coaches, teachers, and mentors she encountered along the way with helping her develop into the exceptional student-athlete she is today.
Alyssa Sagle is an exceptional student-athlete whose accomplishments have earned recognition at the state, national, and international levels. She competed in the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials and captured the title at the U.S. Open swimming competition in December 2024. A nine-time Scholastic All-American and 11-time state champion, Alyssa has consistently excelled both academically and athletically. She also holds the national public-school record in the 100-yard backstroke, further cementing her place among the nation’s elite swimmers.
Alyssa is a member of the USA Junior National Team and was selected to represent Team USA at an international competition in Vancouver in June 2025. Beyond her success in the pool, she is committed to giving back to the sport by serving as a role model for younger athletes and sharing her experiences as a speaker at swim camps for aspiring swimmers. Her achievements, leadership, and dedication make her an outstanding representative of Prince William County Public Schools.
Alyssa’s success was shaped by the strong support system she experienced throughout her time in Prince William County Public Schools. Having attended PWCS for her entire educational career, she benefited from the guidance of dedicated teachers, career, coaches, and mentors who recognized her potential and encouraged her to pursue her goals. A particularly influential factor was the continuity of coaching she received, as many of the coaches who worked with her on the Battlefield High School swim team had also trained and mentored her since she was 5. Their consistent encouragement, combined with the opportunities available through school athletics, helped her develop the skills, confidence, and work ethic that contributed to her success both in the classroom and in the pool.
Alyssa’s story exemplifies the transformative impact of public education and the opportunities available to students through Prince William County Public Schools. Her achievements as a nationally recognized swimmer, nine-time Scholastic All-American, 11-time state champion, and member of the USA Junior National Team reflect not only her dedication and perseverance but also the support she received from teachers, coaches, and mentors throughout her educational journey. As she prepares to attend the University of Virginia and continue her athletic and academic pursuits, her story serves as an inspiring example of the outstanding outcomes public education can help make possible.
