Three Student School Board Representatives Awarded VSBA Exhibitors Scholarships

Charlottesville, VA – Aaron Lin, a student at Woodside High School in Newport News City Public Schools, Victoria Daniel, a student at Amelia County High School in Amelia County Public Schools, and Anthony Bright, a student at Bland County High School in Bland County Public Schools were awarded the 2023 VSBA Exhibitors Scholarships. The scholarship, funded by exhibiting companies at the VSBA’s Annual Convention, was made available to Spring 2024 graduating seniors who had served as student school board representatives. BPA, VMDO, Optima Health, Schneider Electric, Branch Builds, SFE, and Howard Shockey and Sons sponsored this year’s scholarship program, which is in its 11th year.

When asked about what receiving the scholarship meant to them, each recipient responded:

“As the first person in my family to go to college, this scholarship means that I will not be limited by a financial barrier. I can explore my interests in college whether it is origami engineering to economics. Mainly though, receiving this scholarship means I am a leader in my community,” said Aaron Lin.

“Receiving the VSBA Exhibitors Scholarship means the absolute world to me. I am beyond thankful because I know its contribution to my education will go a long way. I’m so glad my hard work is paying off and plan to continue making a difference in my society,” said Victoria Daniel.

“Receiving this scholarship is nothing short of extraordinary as it allows me to relieve some of my financial burdens and continue to get an education in what I love. Receiving the VSBA Exhibitor Scholarship is a complete honor that I will never forget and will be continually grateful for,” said Anthony Bright.

The scholarships were awarded earlier today at the VSBA Annual Convention in Williamsburg, VA, which brings together school board members, superintendents, division administrators, and education officials from across the commonwealth.
