Regional School Board Member of the Year Honored at 2025 VSBA Annual Convention
Charlottesville, VA – This afternoon, during the opening session of the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) Annual Convention in Williamsburg, VA, Veda Frazier, chair of the King William County School Board, was honored as the VSBA Eastern Region School Board Member of the Year. The recognition highlights her exceptional leadership and steadfast commitment to advancing student success across the region. This year’s award was graciously sponsored by Southland Industries.
Frazier has served on the King William County School Board for 10 years, including three years as Vice-Chair and two years as Chair. In addition to her local service, she has taken on numerous leadership roles statewide and currently represents her region on the VSBA Board of Directors as the Eastern Region Chair.
From the award application, “Mrs. Frazier consistently speaks publicly, positively, and favorably about the public schools and uses the dais as a platform to recognize and celebrate employees and children. Through her leadership, each Board meeting features a ‘Strategic Spotlight’ presentation that helps promote a student, staff, or programmatic accomplishment that is aligned to the division’s strategic plan. Mrs. Frazier often is the first to volunteer her time and participation at community events and keenly understands that board member visibility and accessibility are crucial to favorable public perception.”
Frazier’s dedication reflets the very best of public service, setting a strong example of how effective boardsmanship can inspire progress and strengthen community trust in education.
