VSBA Take Your Legislator to School Month
November 2025

Each November, the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) invites school boards across the Commonwealth to participate in Take Your Legislator to School Month. This annual initiative is designed to foster stronger connections between public education and legislators serving in the Virginia General Assembly.

Throughout November, VSBA encourages all local school boards to schedule visits and conversations with their state legislators. These interactions provide valuable opportunities to build relationships, engage in meaningful dialogue, and highlight the successes and needs of Virginia’s public schools. The goal is to strengthen collaboration between school divisions, local communities, and policymakers to support and enhance public education for all students.

The VSBA asks that you notify the VSBA of your activities. We may attend your events or promote them in the VSBA Daily News and social media feeds. Please send photos to communications@vsba.org and use hashtag #VALeg2school when posting to social media.

This year’s toolkit contains information that will help you plan a successful event including tips and suggestions for the event, a sample invitation, a sample press release, and tips for meetings with legislators. You will also find a Public Service Announcement from VSBA President, Dr. JoWanda Rollins-Fells, below.
